Todd Rundgren streamlined (if you could call it that) his band Utopia down to a 4-piece band in 1977. Trimming the extra synthesizers didn’t mean he trimmed any of the excesses. Instead he wrote a 15 minute epic “Singring and the Glass Guitar” and took it on the road with a 22 foot tall pyramid and sphinx! Here is incredible live footage of that including Todd’s death-defying fall from the top of the pyramid after his guitar solo.
